steve, it is true that doing the sevice work yourself keeps the profit inside the company.

The problem is if you don't have time to grow the sevice staff then one must purchace a sevice company.

What is the real cost of the Compaq/DEC deal to Compaq? I would like to have it explained if you can. They don't get 50% GM from the sevice side for free. There is the cost of aquiring DEC.

Since the stock market dropped the price of Compaq I think the market was saying either the cost was expensive or than the transition was not clear.
