the price wasn't cash since cpq will end up with 8 billion in cash after the purchase and dismantle and they only had 6.8 billion before the purchase. cpq also gets chaep 64 bit chips from intel which was p[art of the dec suit they won against intel. dell should have beat cpq to the puch and done this deal and bot dec. it would have been the coup of the yr and boxed cpq out. plus, dec has the high end enterprise technology. dec's negative was they didn't know how to handle logistics and managemnt. cpq will had that... of course cpq needs to layoff about 20,000 people now<gggggg> go to the idc thread. they disected the purchase.
