cpq will eventually have more cash bec. of the deal earning interest...
not less cash.

that's the wierd part, cpq will have 8 billion in cash after the purcahse and selling off off a few peices.
they only have 6.8 billion now.
the negative is cpq is allot more effiecient so they will sell plants and have to do something with 20,000 people.
pfeif says it helps the eps this yr...
my guess is he had an army of financial genius figure that out...
it's a purchase that dell should have done and it would have really hurt cpq's plan.
dec took the deal bec. they are engrs and the have to face they cannot
manage the logitics and the management side of the computing biz anymore.
when they had an engineering monopoly they did okay..
when that wnet away they had to be three times as effiecient..and they couldn't do it.
remember in 1987 dec was 200 a share.
