Piper Sandler's Michael Lavery: US Cannabis Market Could Hit US$115-Billion By 2030 (Part 1 of 3)

01/27/2021 11:02 AM EST

11:02 AM EST, 01/27/2021 (MT Newswires) -- Piper Sandler's Michael Lavery said in a note to clients published overnight Tuesday that the cannabis market in the United States could nearly triple by 2030 even without any federal legislative changes.

The analyst said the American cannabis market could reach US$50-billion in annual sales by the end of the current decade, even assuming no additional state-level legalization efforts or changes to federal law. If recreational cannabis is legalized federally, Lavery said the market could be worth as much as US$115-billion by 2030.

Those figures compare to Piper Sandler's estimated nationwide sales total for 2020 being roughly US$17.5-billion.
