Belknap gave his resignation to President Grant just before the impeachment was to begin but the house and senate moved forward. A majority in the senate voted to convict but they did not have two thirds so he was acquited. There is no question that Trump is guilty and the remedy of preventing an individual from ever holding office again is of utmost importance. The republicans that vote against conviction are spineless cowards. It has nothing to do with the evidence as it is a SLAM DUNK case. I can't fathom how anyone can vote to support a seditionist. Would this be your position if a democrat was on trial? As for how I referred to you I am sorry if this touched a nerve. Rich
