a theory of .. poverty ... and I don't mean financial. Strangely ... among those I know who are educated ... there is some kind of converse at work. The wealthiest ... financially ... and more important: emotionally -- seem to be the richest in BOTH regards.

But the theory you cite is a theory that fits well with those who advocate killing the unborn and many a theory of social justice. It's a sad theory.

I used to teach physics and it was in vogue at the time to talk about western energy consumption vs. that of the developing world. Beginning my lecture starting into the topic of energy -- I chose to consider the difference in generations -- in the US regarding energy consumption.

I always like to start with questions -- my lead-off question to the class was: Are you rich?

[ I was going to make the obvious point about how much better our lives were than our forbears -- because we command energy resources that do a lot of work for us.]

When I asked the question: "Are you rich?"

Some murmured -- is he kidding me -- because many at that technical college are from the north side of town -- usually less well-off.

But the first kid to raise his hand offered -- "why, yes, I am rich. I am rich ... in cousins." :-)

Adults counting their riches in $$s, bonds and stocks -- ch*t!!
