Hopefully that is one good thing that will come out of this GME event. Wall Street and their regulatory arm the SEC never had any incentive to enforce any short selling regulations because Wall Street was usually benefitting from the manipulation. Now that Wall Street took a few hits they may get serious about enforcing some reasonable short selling restrictions. Personally I don't think anybody should be able to sell the stock assets that I own anymore than they should be able to sell my house.
