Very well put. Much the same applies to prong collars.

It’s never / rarely the “tool” which does damage. It’s the handler using it the wrong way.

BTW, we are making very good progress with our new neighbour’s two “problem Terriers”. Both are now doing very well on long training leads with hardly any need for corrections even when meeting people or other dogs. I strongly suspect that it has a lot to do with Penny, the dogs’ owner, who is now much more relaxed when being out with us. I never realized until now how much an owner’s fear / anxiety can affect a dog’s behaviour.

I have to also give a lot of credit to our Shepherd. Her confidence, easiness and obedience has clearly rubbed off on the two “rascals”. "We" all learn best by example ... :-)
