I originally bought 2 8TB drives and had planned on using one to back up the the only to realize I needed to have them both running at the same time to do this which I didn't want to do. Raid 1.

So I then decided to put the second drive as a future replacement for the first drive and then bought an external 8 TB USB drive which I use to back up all of the media a few times a year and set this drive in safe storage.

As I said in an earlier post the only problems is the drive is a little noisy since the NAS drive enclosure is located near my media center. So in the future I would like get a 8TB SSD drive as a replacement, not for speed but for noise consideration. Speed is not a factor for my NAS MEDIA drive. .
