The real reason for the time-span between the AMD 233mhz and 266mhz is
due to AMD's "decision" to offer a medium performance .35um process. AMD
needs .25um just to get to 266mhz ... Intel's decision to be aggressive
on their device design at .35um has really paid off this past year. We
will see a similar strategy from Intel on their .25um process ... So I
don't see AMD getting back into the performance race anytime soon. This
means the AMD K6 3D+XYZ (and all other versions) will compete on the
low end in the "low margin" part of the market ... Not a good place to
be IMHO.
