ITEM 1: Bloomberg reported, "It’s the kind of rescue that the most indebted companies in America can only dream of: a fresh injection of cash that doesn’t hurt their already depressed stock price or load even more costly debt onto their balance sheet.
"Yet thanks to the army of day traders who use Reddit to tout and bid up out-of-favor stocks and squeeze short sellers, firms such as American Airlines Group Inc. and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. have found themselves on the receiving end of just such a lifeline.
"Both took steps over the past week to sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of shares and secure much-needed liquidity. Besides the companies themselves, there’s perhaps no bigger winner from the massive stroke of good fortune than their creditors. Just weeks ago many were staring at the possibility of significant losses as pandemic-fueled slumps had traders betting up the odds of default. Now the companies are suddenly in a position to raise fresh piles of cash to weather the storm, and could even use the funds to start paying down debt."
So, just out of the blue, some guy at Reddit starts saving companies hit by the pandemic panic.
Chairman Xiden should skip the $1.9 trillion bailout and just open an account at Reddit.
ITEM 2: Politico reported, "Former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial will be conducted on the Senate floor, live on TV. The Senate investigation into Sens. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley will take place behind closed doors by one of the most secretive committees in Congress.
"After multiple leading Democrats called for the two Republicans to resign, Cruz and Hawley’s challenge to President Joe Biden’s Electoral College win is now tied up in the opaque Senate Ethics Committee. And while Trump’s impeachment trial will conclude quickly, the probe into whether the two senators played a role in inciting the violent Capitol attack will unwind over an interminable timetable with little hint of where it is going.
"The committee says nothing about its business until actions are taken. And it has a lot of business before it: Seven Democratic senators filed a complaint against the two GOP senators who led the effort to object to the election results, arguing that they lent legitimacy to the cause of those who invaded the Capitol. Hawley fired back with a counter complaint alleging improper conduct for partisan gain."
Democrats want to strip people of their right to vote Republican.
ITEM 3: The Associated Press reported, "Chanting slogans against President Vladimir Putin, tens of thousands took to the streets Sunday across Russia to demand the release of jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny, keeping up nationwide protests that have rattled the Kremlin. More than 4,500 people were detained by police, according to a monitoring group, and some were beaten.
"Russian authorities mounted a massive effort to stem the tide of demonstrations after tens of thousands rallied across the country last weekend in the largest, most widespread show of discontent that Russia had seen in years. Despite threats of jail terms, warnings to social media groups and tight police cordons, the protests again engulfed cities across Russia’s 11 time zones on Sunday.
"Navalny’s team quickly called another protest in Moscow on Tuesday, when he is set to face a court hearing that could send him to prison for years."
To be fair, Putin is just doing what his fellow Democrats do in the United States.
ITEM 4: Politico wrote, "Why you haven’t seen a sit-down Biden interview yet."
Well we all know why. The spin was entertaining.
Politico wrote, "As main protagonists go, Biden’s role has been comparatively limited — a startling contrast to the omnipresent president who preceded him. Donald Trump didn’t so much love the spotlight as he sought to totally consume it. Whether he was sending Twitter screeds at all hours or shouting answers over the ear-splitting blades of his presidential aircraft, Trump craved media attention like no American leader before him."
So answering questions from reporters is now craving media attention.
ITEM 5: Fox reported, "Playboy’s Brian Karem, who became known during the Trump administration for his aggressive style, claimed on Thursday that he has been booted from the White House Correspondents' Association.
" 'This morning at 9 a.m. EST my latest column for Playboy posted - one in which I criticized the WHCA for a conflict of interest. At 10:32 a.m. I was informed by the WHCA that my request for membership this year has been declined,' Karem tweeted. 'Guess I won't go to the dinner this year!' "
The dinner will feature the usual screeds against Donald Trump as it marks the 10th anniversary of his one and only appearance there.
Sherman, set the wayback machine for August 26, 2019, when the Daily Caller reported, "The White House Correspondents’ Association filed a brief Monday expressing support for Playboy reporter Brian Karem’s lawsuit after his press pass was revoked by the White House earlier in August.
"Karem, also a CNN political analyst, got into a verbal confrontation with former Trump aide Sebastian Gorka in July. A video appeared to show Gorka yelling at Karem. However, a second video showed that Karem allegedly instigated the fight after he taunted attendees because he wasn’t happy about seating arrangements at Trump’s social media summit.
"WHCA filed an amicus brief Monday expressing support for Karem’s lawsuit, which he filed August 20. The lawsuit asks for a temporary restraining order as well as a re-instatement of Karem’s press pass, which has been suspended for 30 days following Karem’s behavior at the White House in July."
The next Republican president should just shut down the White House press office because reporters are just Mean Girls and gossips.
ITEM 6: The Blaze reported, "The office for Rep. Stephen Lynch announced on Friday that the Massachusetts Democrat had tested positive coronavirus. Most interestingly, Lynch’s positive test result came after he received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
"Spokeswoman Molly Rose Tarpey explained in a statement that Lynch tested positive after coming into contact with a staff member who had testing positive for the virus earlier last week."
My guess is it is a false positive.
We shall see.
ITEM 7: The Washington Examiner reported, "A member of the Norwegian Parliament nominated Black Lives Matter for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize, lauding the movement for its calls for systemic change during summer 2020.
"Petter Eide of the Socialist Left Party said in his nomination papers that the movement had a hand in forcing countries outside the United States to combat racism and inequality in their respective societies, according to the Guardian."
Greta Thunberg hardest hit.
ITEM 8: The New York Times reported, "John Weaver, a longtime Republican* strategist and co-founder of the prominent anti-Trump group the Lincoln Project, has for years sent unsolicited and sexually provocative messages online to young men, often while suggesting he could help them get work in politics, according to interviews with 21 men who received them.
"His solicitations included sending messages to a 14-year-old, asking questions about his body while he was still in high school and then more pointed ones after he turned 18."
* Weaver helped run McCain’s presidential campaigns in 2000 and 2008 and Kasich’s in 2016.
14?
The Washington Post reported, "Lincoln Project disavows co-founder John Weaver after allegations he made unsolicited sexual overtures to young men."
They knew.
Now that the project is over, these grifters can disavow the rain maker who shook down their money.
ITEM 9: CNN reported, "A huge piece of California's Highway 1 was washed out this week by a winter storm that brought heavy rain and snow."
Politicians waste money for infrastructure on welfare, windmills, and what Kamala Harris calls "wacial justice."
ITEM 10: Michael Goodwin reported, "They can’t quit the grift. No sooner had Joe Biden won the White House than his family went back to trying to make a buck off his name.
"The latest sordid example involves one of Joe’s younger brothers, Frank Biden, appearing in a Florida law firm’s ad — on Inauguration Day no less. The ad used the president’s name to draw attention to the Berman Law Group’s class-action suit against sugar cane growers."
Grifter gotta grovel.
But I thought Big Sugar had Biden in its pocket.
ITEM 11: The Daily Caller reported, "Large corporations have endorsed and lobbied for a $15 federal minimum wage in recent years, but while they can afford such a policy, small businesses would be harmed, studies have shown.
"Many corporations, once known for their opposition to raising the federal minimum wage, have reversed course in recent years, raising their own wages to $15 per hour and lobbying the federal government to legislate an increase. While larger corporations have determined they could benefit from such a reversal, studies continue to show a federal minimum wage hike will crush small business."
For Corporate America, regulations are a barrier ton competition. They can afford to comply with silly rules such as reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Joe the Plumber can't.
Joe is now a manager at McPlumbing.
ITEM 12: A prominent lawyer in Charleston, West Virginia, sent me this with his comment.
In a Senate ENR hearing I highlighted the value of resource based jobs. I also emphasized that the recent EOs from the Biden admin regarding oil & gas on federal lands have caused extreme anxiety for Alaskans who fear for their jobs & the state’s ability to generate revenue. pic.twitter.com/TC9dRjLFOI
— Sen. Lisa Murkowski (@lisamurkowski) January 31, 2021 He said, "Sorry, Lisa. If you really cared about those jobs, you wouldn’t be aligned with those who would destroy them."
She does not care because she is not an Alaskan; she's a Washingtonian who inherited one of her old man's old jobs.
The Liz Cheney of the North Star State.
ITEM 13: OAN reported, "A leading U.S. medical journal announced the medicine hydroxychloroquine can effectively treat the coronavirus. This came after nearly a year of Democrats and the mainstream media endangering lives by falsely claiming the medication was dangerous. One America’s Pearson Sharp reports."
We knew this when President Trump said it could be a game changer. We knew itv because Donald Trump never lies. Exaggerates, yes. But lies? No.
ITEM 14: The Wall Street Journal reported, "Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) said Saturday she spoke with former President Donald Trump and has his support, as Republican Party leaders faced calls to punish the freshman congresswoman over her behavior toward colleagues and her past embrace of far-fetched conspiracy theories on mass shootings and other contentious subjects."
The Journal left out the part where she does not believe Putin colluded with Donald Trump to steal the 2016 election. She does not believe Donald Trump incited a riot at the Capitol. She does not believe Donald Trump sits around all day gorging on junk food, drinking Diet Coke, and watching Gorilla TV.
Those are just a few conspiracy theories the mainstream media pushed these last 4 years.
ITEM 15: Business Insider reported, "GOP House member who voted to impeach Trump says his family sent around a signed petition disowning him for crossing the former president."
The turncoat is Adam Kinzinger, who said, "My dad's cousins sent me a petition — a certified letter — saying they disowned me because I'm in 'the devil's army' now. It's been crazy, when you have friends — that you thought were good friends that would love you no matter what — that don't."
Benedict Arnold complains about disloyalty.
ITEM 16: The Wall Street Journal reported, "Two lawyers leading former President Donald Trump’s defense in his Senate impeachment trial have left the legal team a little over a week before the trial is scheduled to begin, according to a person familiar with the matter.
"Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier, two attorneys from South Carolina, no longer plan to represent Mr. Trump, the person said Saturday. The decision was mutual, the person said, declining to give a reason for the departures.
"The departures leave Mr. Trump in a difficult position with the trial set to open on Feb. 8."
(The story is paywalled.)
Well, no problem. Just ask for a 30-day postponement to hire new counsel. The longer this plays out, the better for Donald Trump.
ITEM 17: MSNBC reported, "Politico reporter Tara Palmeri shares her experience attending a rally against Rep. Liz Cheney in Wyoming, and says she believes Trump’s ‘base is getting stronger’ and there is a large disconnect between Washington and the rest of the country."
The technical name for President Trump's base is "The United States of America."
ITEM 18: The New York Times reported, "Electric Cars Are Coming, and Fast. Is the Nation’s Grid Up to It?"
Of course not.
That is the whole point.
The Communists have closed hundreds of power plants over the goofball climate change theory.
Then the Communists used the same superstition to sell electric cars.
The Communists want to destroy our economy and blame capitalism.
Remember War's song "The World Is A Ghetto"?
That's the plan.
