Silicon Valley startups, I've recently heard, are 50% foreigners.... On the tech side perhaps even higher. The business side is still dominated by Americans. The tech people will start out making significantly more than the business side out of school but it doesn't take too many years then the business folk make more than the tech guys. And the business folk will bitch about the high cost of the tech folks and demand H1B's to drive down the cost. Ask yourself why H1B's aren't used to hire sales/marketing/finance people? If engineers were fairly compensated there would be a lot more American born PhDs.
