Time to clear the smoke....phew some y'all are flying higher than kites. I like CPQ more for a value than growth, they are now firmly entrenched in business infrastructure worldwide. However, all this ranting and raving about CPQ benefiting from the boom of products with chips is foolhardiness. Which semi-manufacturer, of which their are several dozen viable ones in the U.S. alone needs Compaq to put a product on the shelf? Answer....NONE! There is worldwide overcapacity in manufacturing now and in the forseeable future. CPQ has its place, but the more it extends into consumer products the more it will get burned. I think Pfeiffer learned his lesson and switched from Media GX to AMD; and canceled its PC/TV product line. If your so knowledgeable, tell me why Compaq took those actions? Simple, couldn't compete successfully in those market niches.
