In spite of what some members of this board may post, it is not entirely clear if HDD can continue to maintain cost advantage over SSD. This is entirely dependent on cost downs of flash (which has happened somewhat faster than expected) and technologies like HAMR and MAMR, which WD and Seagate have been slower to productize than expected. As a result the gap between HDD and SSD has closed faster than expected over the last couple of years. If you're going to invest in WD or Seagate this is something to keep a very close eye on and I thought it was important to share a more nuanced view than the perma bull who thinks this is a no brainer 600 dollar stock.
