I haven't followed the entire discussion...maybe I missed something.

Do you need your main computer to be connected to the LAN and WAN at the same time?

If not, just swap cables to be on the LAN or WAN, as desired.

That's how secure system admins establish an "air gap" for system security.

If you need to be on both at the same time, you can use an inexpensive switch to connect to both the WAN and LAN simultaneously.
