CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Glenayre Technologies Inc.
(NASDAQ:GEMS) has received a $3.2 million order from China's Hebei Provincial
Posts and Telecommunications Administration (PTA) to expand Hebei's province-
wide high speed paging network. The expansion will provide high speed paging
services to an additional eight cities in Hebei and allow Hebei PTA to serve
one million additional paging subscribers.
Glenayre will install its FLEX-based high speed paging infrastructure,
including GL3000 Wireless Messaging Switches, GL-C2000 Transmitter
Controllers, GL-E5310 and GL-T8411 VHF Transmitters, GL-T85/8321 280MHz
Transmitters, and WMtp networking equipment. Installation is scheduled for
completion by May 1998.
Built by Glenayre in 1996, Hebei PTA's network will be the first
provincial network incorporated into China's Nationwide High Speed Paging
Network, of which Glenayre is a major system provider. Since 1990, Glenayre
has supplied more than 300 paging systems in thirteen provinces throughout
China.
