I can remember western bankers and economists laughing at Japan many years ago when they first introduced negative rates to the Japanese economy.

Japan has been fighting deflation for decades. Now the rest of the world is moving in the same direction.

I leaned back in the 70's-90's living in Japan that Japan in many ways has been living in the future compared to most other countries and it would be WISE to follow Japan's efforts in many areas closely. There is a lot to learn from their efforts and mistakes.
