I've looked at Chile as an alternate winter avoidance locale. Doing spring and summer twice a year could easily be integrated with business interests... while avoiding the monotony of the equator or the extremes at the limits. I've seen it snow in Miami... even if it did melt while falling at 6 feet above the ground.

It features in some of my wanderings this week... noting Spain disrupting a deal for a Spanish oil company due to "national security" concern over its ownership in the Spanish power grid... at the same time they just sold 100% interest in a Chilean power company to a Chinese SOE... while they're seeking to transition from carbon based energy to "green"... by buying a solar manufacturer in the U.S.

The one certainty about "principled" investors... seems to be the one way nature of principle in application.

As far as dollar... same principle applies. Everyone hates on the dollar... but no one is willing to do ANY of what is necessary to offer a currency that avoids the problems the dollar has less of than all the other fiats.

That should continue for some time... even with, or more because of, the Fed sticking to the near zero bound.

Owning commodities... directly or in stocks... seems to be the one thing that none of the market mavens are advocating as their touted tech portfolios test market limits in valuation.

I prefer silver... and oil... for now. But, like every newly minted Robinhood trader, I've recently become a long term investor... with planned holding periods even exceeding two weeks.
