Yahoo! was mentioned in the recent Fortune magazine. A lot of Yahoo's success is based upon the fact that its web sites have a significantly faster response time then the competitors (which I completely agree). They do this by using few graphics in their interface. This gets them more 'hits' in the same amount of time. IMO a fast response time is also a must to make the user's experience less frustrating.
