Texas Freeze Raises Cost of Tesla Charge to $900: “The wind-dependent Texas grid is experiencing rolling blackouts...”

Is Tesla just another component in the “green energy” scam? Owners of Tesla cars may be asking the question after the cost to charge the car skyrocketed to $900 during the Texas freeze.

Clean Energy reports that “Tesla needs dirt cheap power to charge PowerWall and PowerPack, but from where?”



The surge in power prices equals a cost of $900 for charging a Tesla. There’s nothing cheap about the Texas surge in power prices.

The Drive reports that on a normal day, the full charge of a Tesla costs just $18.



Texas has been in the news this week because the state experienced a severe cold snap. When the wind turbines that power 25 percent of the Texas electricity froze, the wind power generating capacity was cut by

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) said, “We are dealing with higher-than-normal generation outages due to frozen wind turbines and limited natural gas supplies available to generating units.” The ERCOT called for rolling outages because the frozen turbines strained the grid so much.

The irony is that oil and gas-rich Texas is dependant on wind energy. Texas is also the leading U.S. state for wind power. It’s all part of the plan to make energy prices skyrocket:

“The wind-dependent Texas grid is experiencing rolling blackouts, prices the equivalent of $900 per Tesla charge, and an expected supply shortage of 10 GW–the amount of electricity needed to power 5 million homes.”
