Hey TD!! Well, the tent is still up and intact, and the party continues to rage.... but it IS time to start pulling a few outer stakes.
As for where I'll go in preparation for when TSHTF, ideally it will be off grid in the wilderness of FL, where I was born. It will be at least 30 miles from the nearest population center, and 15 miles out from a power grid.
If FL becomes untenable, I'll make a mad dash in the middle of the night for the border, and up into the high country of NC, where I grew up and lived til my early 20's. During the Great Depression, my great grandfather purchased (for pennies on the dollar) the actual 450 ft high mountain in Kings Mountain and the roughly 1500 acres of wilderness surrounding it, which stayed in the family til the late 80's, when arms were twisted to "donate" it to the State, instead of sell it for $80 million to a mining company.
While we owned it, deep tunnels and caves were excavated deep into the mountain that only a few elders in the family know about, and I suspect enormous survival/prepper caches await the need once the war begins. I hope I never have to spend time in there, but it's nice to know a safe haven is available deep under millions of square feet of impenetrable granite. We can begin a new civilization there if push comes to shove. <g>
Preparations have also been made in the wilderness of WV, and if all else fails, I'll bribe a communist party member to allow me to fly to Thailand without a Vaccine Passport to join my 8 year old son and his mom in the rural highlands...
..where there's STILL two girls for every boy, and a Prime Minister who knows better than to give an experimental gene-altering therapy to an unsuspecting population.
