Bennett, thank you for your response.

You stated, >>It is clear that all living organisms appear to exist in constant violation of this law on
a second-by-second basis. The raw materials, for example, which organisms
consume are "ordered" into stable forms which the organism needs to survive.
Atoms acquired from the environment are ordered in every part of every living
thing. We are all, at every instant, in constant "violation of the 2nd law of
thermodynamics" as you put it.<<

My response: there is no violation, because the life in living organisms is outside intelligence bringing order where otherwise it would only tend to more disorder.

Extrapolate, in your thinking, back to a state in which no life forms exist at all. It would be a violation of the 2nd law of thermodynamics for matter to become more orderly, for life to COME INTO EXISTENCE. Since it couldn't happen to BEGIN with, evolution is impossible.

Unless, of course, you are an advocate of "Theistic evolution" - which is just an oxymoron compromise, though a compromise in the right direction.
