Roses aren't from there either, but they sure do well ... early one december, '93 or '94, i arrive Auckland in the wee hours, get established at Parnell hostel, then wander uphill early on, just stretching legs ... 25 acres of roses just coming into full bloom, laid out so you can't see all of it from any spot, there's a sense of infinite beauty ... after eating i go back, and here's a japanese couple getting married, apparently that's not uncommon, people come from all over for weddings ... that night there's a U2 concert in a major stadium, really good, i meet a bunch of young folk and talk up the rose garden to them, next morning meet them there, several had never been, and they were pretty local

Better for the horses, get them back into natural ground with greenery, hopefully ... probably miss the emissions though, they would have really helped the roses |
