Nvidia climbs after fourth quarter smashes revenue records

  • Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) shares gain 2.5% after fourth quarter results post revenue above $5B for the first time, up a whopping 61% on the year. Profit topped estimates by $0.29 at $3.10.
  • GPU rival AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) is up nearly 1% AH.
  • Gaming and Data Center have again hit new records with $2.5B (up 10% Q/Q, 67% Y/Y) and $1.90B (flattish Q/Q, +97% Y/Y) in sales, respectively.
  • Professional Visualization sales continued the sequential recovery with $307M, up 30% on the quarter and down 7% on the year. Same deal with auto at $145M, up 16% on the quarter and down 11% on the year.
  • Gross margin was up 10 bps on the year to 65.5%.
  • Operating expenses were up 47% Y/Y and 8% Q/Q to $1.2B.For Q1,
  • Nvidia forecasts revenue of $5.3B plus or minus 2% (consensus: $4.53B). Gross margin is expected within 50 bps of 66%.
