“That’s a small hole. No big deal.” That would be a systemic failure. Just as an example, in auditing, a petty cash fund may only contain $100 which is entirely immaterial, but you wouldn’t just ignore a shortage there as it indicates a problem on numerous levels.

You don't ignore the shortage. It's a matter of how you deal with the shortage--whether you prevent it or whether you fix it upon discovery. All you have to design in is the ability to discover it.

For example, the electrical grid in Texas. It would be cost prohibitive to design it so that no one's power ever went out. You need to do enough to avoid massive failures or lots and lots of everyday failures but not every potential failure. Instead, you design a mechanism so that you know that the power has just gone out on some street somewhere and send crews to fix it.

I honestly think these voting systems could benefit from serious internal control reviews. They’d look like hell if they did. These systems are designed to fail without detection.

I would agree that there may be some that aren't well designed or well executed. That's why I considered the feds forcing a review for best practices. That's not the same thing as making the system absolutely bulletproof because otherwise the only people who would get to vote would be those whose families had been in town for at least three generations and were personally known to and highly regarded by election officials and who were able to personally present themselves to said officials at the the polls on election day. AKA voter suppression.

That’s what happened in PA, MI and GA. It was sickening.

If your fears and imagination make you sick, see a doctor. Don't try to bring down a country.
