It's Rose's moss <smile>
or
Laschamps Event

This is very cool, a tree that live to be 1,700 years old, 40,000 years ago in NZ is refining our climate info.
They used the rings and then cross correlated that information to Black Sea mud cores.
This allowed multiple views of the Laschamps event 42,000 years ago, the last full magnetic field reversal.
Using carbon dating on the sub-fossilized tree, preserved in a bog, andd the cores allowed greater accuracy.
They can see patterning now over 100 year intervals instead of thousand year intervals.
I have only seen a kauri tree in pictures but I hope one day to see one. I would also like to see an Ent.

The gradual weakening of our magnetic field today could signal another reversal is coming.
Speculation that another reversal could happen in the next one to two thousand years is supported by data.
We were out at Port Renfrew just a few years ago to visit the Avatar Grove.
We plan to go visit the Cheewhat Lake Cedar this summer if possible.
I have been a member of the AncientForestAlliance for several years now and write emails regularly.
I pen letters to the BC NDP government ministers urging action on saving old growth forest, every voice helps.
