I agree, unhedged on TSLA is crazy. I mentioned that it was an extreme example if only to demonstrate that a whacking becomes a severe problem in a short premium income strategy.

You have the right idea. Examine each strategy critically and when you find one that seems reasonable, tweak it as much as possible until it gets as close as possible to acceptable risk/reward.
