I have decided to dispense with upside targets entirely. I dont have enough information to determine what is an optimal price to sell all of my shares in a particular stock. I seem to be proven wrong more often than not.
and those gigantic moves can make a huge difference in one portfolio even if its only a stub. I would rather make the decision based on the need to keep the ownership below a certain percentage of the portfolio. so far not doing that has cost me money and that was not reducing my position in mac to a normal large weight when i had the one day opportunity to do so. I did take some profits though in uni the pots stocks discover and the biotech stock. and earlier in nrz-a which i sold and then reentered later. Perhaps its psychological but having taking some profits makes me feel more comfortable about letting the balance of the position ride. in the context of what can happen with a company and its share price one year is a very small time period, yet there is has been so much turbulence in share prices this year. Back in March i was hoping for an upturn two years later. what has happened in the past 12 months is close to being a once in a lifetime event.

On fast money I was hearing about one talking head giving her reasons for dumping BABA. except they werent reasons they were feelings. Meanwhile I think its fascinating that BABA controls 40% of the cloud market in China they have been developing it for ten years but they are not making money on it yet. Yet Amazon makes a ton of money on their cloud product. I have to believe at some point BABA will also start making lots of money on cloud. They are also going into the electric car business. I just think this is an amazing opportunity to own one of the best companies in the world at a reasonable price. we will see where it is in a years time. I hope by then i will be hearing how overpriced it is.
