WSJ - At Least 15 Die in Southern California Highway Crash
An SUV carrying 28 passengers was struck by a semi truck near the Mexico border
Let's see. The SUV in question was a Ford Expedition. It was designed to carry eight people, but the news report said it was carrying 28.
The crash happened in southern California.
Numerous passengers were ejected from the car onto the road, many of whom weren't wearing seatbelts. Because that's what happens when you cram 28 people into a car that doesn't have enough seatbelts for 28 people.
The police chief is now working with the Mexican consulate to determine who was in the vehicle.
But here's the punch line: "Hospital and law-enforcement officials declined to comment on the citizenship or legal status of any of the victims."
To be sure, they probably shouldn't comment before getting confirmation, but all the signs are there. This was most likely an illegal immigration smuggling operation.
Here's the thing. No one in the media is willing to connect the dots.
Why? Because they're oh-so-afraid of stoking anti-immigrant sentiment, especially among those right-wing "deplorables."
Because they can't admit that liberal immigration policies, along with the inexplicable calls to "ban ICE," are encouraging a new wave of illegal immigration that is happening RIGHT NOW.
Because they just want to focus on the 11M (or so) "undocumented workers" already living in America. They want to see these people get "amnestia," but they will never acknowledge why "amnestia" is opposed by conservatives. It's not necessarily because of racism. Instead, it's because without tighter border controls, without stronger enforcement of existing immigration laws, "amnestia" will only encourage more illegal immigration.
Let's look the other way while the coyotes* do their thing.
(*Coyote is a term that refers to a smuggler of illegal immigrants, for those of you in Rio Linda.)
Let's pretend that Biden can secure the border and get our immigration problem back under control by denying that the current situation is already a complete and utter mess.
Let's act like the SUV that was built for eight but carried twenty-eight was actually full of QAnon believers on their way to a KKK meeting.
This is one of the worst kept secrets in America. Illegal immigration remains a huge problem, and it will affect all aspects of our lives, from the economy to our communities to public safety and even the COVID-19 pandemic. One man dared to take on the problem with brashness and ego, but he's gone now, and we've returned back to denial mode.
