Shahen: re: "It was originally assumed that it would take Intel until Q498 to address the sub-1000 market." Actually, Intel responded much faster by cutting prices on P54 and P55, (also see Compaq's new DeskPro products). The problem is these are socket 7 devices and Intel would like to see these go away. That's why I describe it as knee jerk reaction. If AMD and Cyrix/NSM weren't players do you really think there would be Covington? Any way, it makes for interesting discussion. Gene
