A little history. BioNTech created a vaccine for China. Then, the virus hit Europe and the US. The virus and the first testing of the vaccine were done by BioNTech. Pfizer and BioNTech had a long standing agreement to create and then sell vaccines so nothing new happened here. Most of the heavy lifting was done by BioNTech. At each stage (testing, etc) the US was one day after a European country, which seems to prove Pfizer didn't do all that much.

The first vaccine shot was 100% BioNTech. It was given on April 23, in Europe.
