OK, so maybe no one can verify I was the first person to ever send a private message to myself. So, how about this...

Am I the first person on SI to ever use the word "mulligatawny" in a sentence and/or post a recipe for it?

Mulligatawny Soup

Directions
(borrowed from the Joy of Cooking)

Saut‚ lightly, but do not brown:
« cup diced onion
1 diced carrot
2 diced ribs celery
in:
¬ cup butter

Stir in:
1« Tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons curry powder

Stir and cook them about 3 minutes.

Pour in and simmer 15 minutes:
4 cups chicken or lamb broth
1 bay leaf

Add and simmer 15 minutes longer:
¬ cup diced tart apples
« cup boiled rice
« cup diced cooked lamb
1 teaspoon salt
¬ teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon thyme
« teaspoon grated lemon rind

Immediately before serving, stir in:
« cup hot cream or coconut milk
