You are just parroting the US media / politicians / popular opinion...that outlook is not backed up by the data. The heavy death toll in the US was likely caused by combination of poor general health of the population combined with the poor health care system...specifically, the lack of an early treatment (instead sending people home until they are critical), the lack of recommending preventatives, and the spotty, disorganized, and even harmful variety of treatments given at hospitals across the country.

In other words you should be ranting at the dollar driven US healthcare system. It was practically criminal and murderous in this case and certainly negligent and caused 10s of thousands of unneeded deaths.
