Please help explain your comment about "a small operation" like Quantum/MKE being able to "afford" R&D"...

MKE=Matsushita (a very big company) I do not know the details of how well this subsidiary is capitalized and they are very secretive about R&D, but my understanding is they have qa world-class manufacturing operation and are investing to maintain it as such.

What details/info does anyone have to share on this -- positive or negative. Please substantiate as much as possible with details.
