Letter to Cymer about Transcript
I sent the following letter to Cymer to verify your transcripts (I do not doubt your accuracy. I just want Cymer on record about it), post on their website, and compensate you.
While faxing the letter and transcripts to Leslie Cole, she called. It turns out that she already has a written transcript of the conference call provided by either the new PR firm or the conference call people so she does not need Scott McI. But, she was interested in it.
Separately, MCA, the new PR firm, has recommended that Cymer DOES NOT publish the written transcript on the website AND that the conference calls be LIMITED to INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS. Of course, I did not like that idea and said so. I also said that other high tech firms like XLNX not only let you listen to the CC but, participate if you call ahead. If you have thoughts about these recommendations, I suggest that you call CYMER!!!

Leslie:
Attached is a transcript of the most recent Fourth quarter and Year end conference call for Cymer Inc on January 29,1998. It was posted on Silicon Investors by Scott McI in replies 13769, 13797, and 13799 of the Cymer thread. I would appreciate it if you could verify the accuracy of this transcript. I have found his transcripts of both the Third quarter 1997 and Fourth quarter 1997 conference calls to be invaluable sources of information. I believe that you should post these transcripts on your Cymer Website to share with all of your shareholders. The conference call and the replays of it are a great way to disseminate information to your shareholders, but a written record is needed for future reference to all of your shareholders.
However, Scott McI has invested a great deal of time and effort in producing these transcripts and I believe that he should be fairly compensated for his efforts. Scott McI can be reached at xxxx@xxx.xxx.
Separately, congratulations on the great Fourth quarter results and the announced share buyback! I am glad to hear about the new public relations firm for Cymer and look for improved communications in the future.
Sincerely,
Scott Violette |
