Thanks, EK!!!

I've been a bit down in the dumps as our struggle continues with the border so I haven't been in the mood to post.

For example, a few weeks ago I had a dead car battery due to lack of use. When I opened the hood to put a charger on it I discovered that rats had been living in the engine compartment. What a mess. And they had chewed through some very important parts but thankfully did not chew any wires so it still runs. Someone else here on the Point also had car issues and was told at the Canadian border that having car repairs was not considered essential travel and was denied entry. What? Given our geographic location a car is not essential? I guess I'm okay with that for now because the trip to Bellingham is about an hour and I'm afraid to be on the highway that long for fear of overheating or chewed things falling off, leaving me stuck. We have a local mechanic but every time I've gone by there he's been closed. So that sucks.

On the bright side our fire chief is getting everyone vaccinated (those who want it, that is) with the Moderna vaccine. I finally put myself on the list and I'm scheduled for whenever he gets his next shipment. He and his crew are local heroes now because apparently the vaccine days are running very smoothly and they also do Covid testing on Sundays. Actually the fire department guys and gals have always been local heroes but they've really stepped up during Covid.

We all remain hopeful that the border will open by summer but there's been nothing concrete from either the Canadian or US governments. I sure miss my neighbours. And I'd sure like to see my family in B.C.

Anyway, thanks for posting the link.

P.S. I'm a she :)
