I moved from SA to follow Ron and Chowder. I wish there was a way to get upgraded to full use of this site without posting. I do not have the time nor do I want to participate as most others do. But I sure do like reading what others have to say. Why should I penalized because I don't post?
It isn't meant as a punishment. I believe it's to ensure new users aren't just spammers posting links to whatever nonsense they're selling and that they're genuinely interested in being members.

I think Silicon Investor used to have a much larger problem with garbage users and spam before those rules were put in place. URLs won't show up as clickable links either until a user becomes a member.
