The only solution for those of us who refuse to live in this perpetual world of anger, violence and ignorance are gated communities, or isolation in or close to wilderness areas that still have pockets of private property.
There's another option, which I'm seriously considering - move to another country (in my case, I'll probably end up in the Greek Isles - Greeks are very proud of their heritage and aren't wallowing in cultural guilt). Despite centuries of abuse from the Turks, they harbor no ill feelings or resentment. In fact, they welcome them as visitors.
