Biowa,
Biopure is a private company so there isn't much info available. In response to your questions it is hard to believe that any of the blood substitute companies could compete with Biopure on a pure cost basis given the relative low cost and abundance of their raw material supply. I think they will own the Vet martket for a long time.
As far as advanced clinical trials, I think the Cowan report said they were in Phase III in Europe and were expected to file a PLA in the first half of the year. Interesting how all the talk is about the public companies and these guys have seemingly come out of nowhere and may wind up as the big winners.
