Dave,

Thanks for the post. I guess I'm confused by Hill. But then again, just like Bill Clinton, its how and what he's denying that counts. At SFAM's annual shareholder meeting the same question was posed to SFAM's Chairman of the Board Farley re Hill's Board membership. A similar denial with was made but those who were in attendance suggested that there was room for interpretation on what was meant by his denial...because it seemed like a qualified denial. That might be the case here, or so I hope. I think a NVLS buyout of SFAM would be great for both companies - as a SFAM shareholder, at the right of price of course - and allow someone to take on AMAT head on particularly with respect to damascene. Not sure how Hill intends to be "King of the Damascene Hill" without a CMP tool.

Then, to complete my dream, NVLS buys SMTL for its ECD technology and we've got ourselves a beast to compete with AMAT - it is my assumption particularly from my friends who attended SemiCon West that SMTL's ECD tool is the best out there with about a 6 months lead. Can't let "the 800 pound gorilla" loose all by itself. :~) As a hedge, I must admit to owning a small number of shares of AMAT as well.

If either of the two scenarios play out, I will not sell a share of NVLS, but may in fact will acquire more.

Just one man's spin....SemiBull
