"GROWTH THROUGH ACQUISTIONS"

In a slowing industry, life-insurance products are under fire. The only
way to grow and cut costs is through consolidation. Rumors on the street
are Aetna Inc. (AET) is shopping around its individual-life insurance
business, which could bring in over $1 billion. Aetna has said in the
past it was looking to shed slower-growth businesses. Among possible
buyers: American General (AGC), Conseco Inc. (CNC), Jefferson-Pilot
Corp. (JP), Lincoln National Corp. (LNC), GE Capital Corp., and various
european insurers. Our sources believe Aetna is trying to unload this
division ti raise more cash in a quest for Oxford Health (OXHP).
