"Personally, I look at Emulex more as an adapter card player on the FC market. Their oem list is very impressive. As with hubs, you are right, it is a crowded field, but I think that Vixel and Gadzoox are much stronger players.
The card market promises to make and grow, by all means, if FC takes off."

IMHO, the adaptor card market is where the revenue (not margin) is at this particular point in time.

One of our distributors in the UK commented after the Birmingham 'Networks' show that they had stopped by the Emulex booth and were told by the Emulex person that interest in FC was pretty quiet.

At the meeting that I attended at Bull with the Escala/FC integration team, they commented that they liked the Emulex adaptors but the drivers weren't to their satisfaction, at that particular point in time (1/97). Yes, I can comment since I am not under ND.
