dec has the technology and the intel law suit in their favor that gives them 64 bit chips cheap, they have the engr'ing resource and plenty of money in the bank and lastly why cpq bot them they have 50% gross margin service and support group.... this deal has been in works for 2 yrs. cpq will close some of the dec plants and there are huge layoffs coming... but cpq has the systems and the management to pull this off. but, they will not act hastily. i expect cpq to raise that 50 billion goal to 62 billion... okay maybe he rounds off and i don't. this and the tandem deal will be the deals of the decade.
