Jury, I'm sure your English is better than my German. Invasion, in common usage, means ground troops which occupy a country. This is (in my opinion) extremely unlikely. Even when the troops were already there, then-President Bush declined to invade Iraq to chase the Republican Guards, for which he was subsequently heavily criticized. I do see the possibility of missile or bombing strikes, probably in another two weeks. The question is whether the targets will be rumored weapons factories, or Presidential palaces which are said to be hiding weapons stockpiles. As for the market implication, I actually see none, unless perhaps a small effect on oil drilling stocks or Exxon. Even that seems unlikely, since oil reserves are rumored to be 4 times normal. Again, my apologies for the fractured German. Regards, Marc |
