The expression "low tax" used for Hong Kong shows how badly the world is going. 50% tax is the start now. Then they mention stamp duty on share transactions as though it's nothing. /s Oh by the way non taxes are sure to last for 12 months so no worries as long as you salute CCP in the approved way./s

While UK grows more totalitarian with saying wrong words being punishable by long term gaol without show trial, with Julian Assange stomped along with Katy Hopkins and anyone else who does not quietly surrender.

The Free World was once a thing . 1984 was a novel rather than blueprint. Oddly, I quite like being in totalitarian places as people are better behaved. Japan is nominally not totalitarian but it sort of is, as is Singapore where bad behaviour is frowned on.

Life is very variable. Maybe Africa and India might become the pleasant places to be, as they once were. In Lee Kwan Yew's lifetime Singapore went from swamp to preeminent using VVV. South Africa is looking bad but perhaps your experience will be normal.
