HUMMINGBIRD ANNOUNCES PLANS TO SUPPORT
INTEL'S IA-64 ARCHITECTURE
Award-winning internetworking software to be optimized for
Merced (TM) processor-based systems
TORONTO, Feb. 2 /CNW/ - Hummingbird Communications Ltd. (TSE: HUM'' and
NASDAQ: HUMCF''), the worldwide technology and market leader in PC to
enterprise connectivity software, announces its plans to work with Intel to
port the Hummingbird internetworking software to Intel's IA-64 architecture.
The first implementation of the connectivity software products will be for
Merced processor-based systems, the first microprocessor in Intel's IA-64
family, which is scheduled to be in production in 1999. Hummingbird
internetworking software combined with the enterprise performance of the
Merced processor running 64-bit Windows NT will provide high performance
internetworking solutions for a broad range of enterprise customers.
