Westi7:

I saw that rumor on the Yahoo thread last week and asked Harry about it (he's the expert), he didn't place much credence in it and advised not to buy the stock on the basis of the rumor...but to buy (or not buy) the stock based on its merits.

I just bought RMI last week...on the basis that Boeing and Airbus have huge order backlogs, both TIMT and RMI have all of 1998 production spoken for and their fundamentals are about the best availabe on the street.

Thus, I'm not banking on the rumor, I think it would be more likely for NKK or National Steel to buy them. However, with USX's stake (27%) it's not real likely that they will be taken over anytime soon IMO.
