Hi MF

Earlier this month I told you I was on a new diabetes drug - Ozempic. It was to be an 8 week trial taking a 2.5mg dose for 4 weeks then upping it to 5.0mg after 4 weeks.

It started ok at first. my Blood pressure settled down to perfect. I did not see much effect on my Blood sugars except for my evening Lantus injection....that did nothing for me before and now seemed to work fine.

I developed a pain in the lower left hand jaw line .... I have had dental problems there for 15 years. I made an appointment for 3 days later with my dentist. He hemmed and hawed...took an x-ray of the molar that was a problem in the past then with something metal he tapped each tooth on upper and lower jaw on the left side.I gave not reaction at all.... he poked around the gum line a bit.... stared at the x-ray and then told me there was nothing wrong with my teeth....If a tooth was the problem I should have screamed when he tapped the teeth.

Hmmmm. Well there was a pain at my lower jaw and radiated up my left side to my eyebrow and as time went on it went across my forehead. It was like a C-clamp was fixed to my temple and was slowly being tightened. The pain was not excessive (about a 4) but it was always there. A drink of hot tea lessened it as did a large meal... But it always came back.

I talked to my GP about it and he suggested what it could be...I looked that up on the internet (Mayo Clinic) and the path of the pain was there... but I had not one of the symptoms listed there.... It was like I was regressing....my walking got worse and other minor stuff was happening to me...f..king COVID!!!

Then I remembered I started that new drug one week before the pain started. Then I read the side effects on the internet and headache was one of them.... my left eye felt a bit blurry and I was seeing double a few times when watching TV...that was there too....THEN I read a warning that Ozempic was found to cause thyroid cancer in mice....SAY WHAT!!! no one told me that...if I was told that I would not have done that drug!!!! I was pissed about that.

I was due to take a third dose but I phoned up the diabetes clinic and told them I was quitting the drug and why.... no argument from them...they agreed.

The pain in my jaw has subsided to a 1 now and I found out it takes 5 weeks to work the drug out of my system.

I was a frigging lab rat for them.... no more new drugs for me. I can make the old drugs work if I am a good boy.

I am getting rotating problems like sciatica ... I only had that happen to me once in my life 4 years ago....I feel like my whole body is unionized and they are going on rotating strikes {sigh}

When will this end...In Alberta we are entering wave 3 and the variants are about half the new instances of COVID....I am not vaccinated .... the information on the different types changes every day as to how good they are and whether they should have a booster and no one says whether they work on variants. I can get one of the vaccinations but not much will change...One should still be careful

What a life !!!! :(
