I understood the article to state that Intel would revamp its Fab 9
with new equipment to allow 0.25uM Flash chip production. This
shrink in geometry dimensions will increase the amount of transistors
per chip while at the same time increasing the amount of chips on
a 200mm wafer by 4x. This strategic move to increase the
performance and the yield will allow Intel to produce better performing
chips 4x cheaper than its competition which means cheaper prices
to its customers and larger market share and volume purchase contracts which should increase margins. If the competition in
Flash can't keep up technically they will be out produced and under-
cut pricewise. The competitions options seem to be:
1. Buy new equipment to move to 0.25uM.
2. Change product lines away from Flash by developing new products
3. Sell the fab

I hope this answers your question, it still isn't clear to me the point
that either of you was trying to make.
