That would depend, I assume, on his tolerance and his other medical conditions. Tolerance is such that a lethal dose for a naive individual would be far less than for someone who is addicted and uses the drug commonly. I have not followed the testimony but I've not heard any reference to whether he was addicted (other than the mention of his "drug dealer", from which I cannot infer he was an addict).
It does, in any case, take a very small quantity of Fentanyl to kill a person. While I've been given the drug a number of times in the hospital, I've never used it illicitly and would not do so under any circumstances. There is simply no way to assure as a street drug you're not going to find so-called "hot spots" that are deadly, though invisible, due to an unanticipated concentration of fentanyl rather than being mixed with whatever crap it is being cut with.
Reality is that someone who is taking street fentanyl takes their life into their own hands and no one else is responsible for what happens. In a legal sense, we will assign blame, but that fellow took his own life when he used the deadliest street drug in history. |
